What made our trip to Mussoorie a special one..

Mussoorie is a hill station in Uttarakhand, India which is a very common getaway for people living in North India. One can visit there throughout the year whether it's summer or winter. Amidst Covid-19 pandamic, it was a very needed getaway for me and my husband in the green and hilly regions of Uttarakhand.

So, the first thing that made it special was, travelling during the pandemic while taking all the precautions and sanitary measures. We wore masks throughout the trip, sanitized our hands regularly and maintained social distancing everywhere. To travel to Uttarakhand, we had to register ourselves on the government portal (www.smartcitydehradun.uk.gov.in).

The second thing that made it special was- We traveled to Mussoorie through self drive and there was just two of us on a road trip miles away from Delhi. It was the first time we tripped to such a long journey on a self drive which made it even more interesting. We drove on those beautiful roads, enjoying the music of love and togetherness.

The third thing that made it special was the location of our hotel. Our room was booked at Sterling Mussoorie. This hotel is located on the edge of a hill, spread on a large area, overlooking the Doon valley. We booked a suit room with a living room, kitchen, and a bedroom and the view from our balcony was just awe-inspiring. It was so mesmerizing to wake up to such a beautiful view. The valley, the hills, the lush greenery capturing the endless landscape was so hypnotic. We experienced the lovely sunrise and sunset from our room. The whole time we spent there with each other was so serene and full of peace.

The Fourth thing that made it special was, our trekking towards the Mall road. Sterling Mussoorie is around 2 kms away from Mall road and the road that connects the Mall road and the hotel was so narrow that only one car could pass through it at a time. We trekked on that road to reach mall road from our hotel and later realized that it was the best idea to walk instead of opting a taxi or self drive. During our trek we enjoyed the astonishing views of valley, beautiful weather, and clicked a lot of pictures. We were so refreshed by that excursion in nature.

During our stroll on Mall road, we stopped at various souvenir shops and had the very famous softy ice cream. For lunch we stopped at Pizza Italia on one day and the Shah rasoi on the other day. Both the restaurants were just amazing making it the fifth special thing for us. Pizza Italia fulfilled our Italian food craving and the Shah rasoi gave us the finger licking north Indian food experience, my personal Favorite! We both just couldn't compromise when it's about food.

I have visited Mussoorie, Uttarakhand many times before but this trip was very different and unique in all the aspects.

"And then I realized adventures are the best way to learn.."
